Iron Infusions
Our iron infusions deliver iron directly into the bloodstream, helping to restore iron stores and support normal energy levels and overall wellbeing. A convenient and effective way to replenish iron levels when oral iron supplements are not suitable or sufficient.
Iron & Your Wellbeing
Iron is essential for producing haemoglobin, which carries oxygen around the body. When iron levels are low, you may experience fatigue, weakness, dizziness, breathlessness or difficulty concentrating.
Iron deficiency can develop gradually and may go unnoticed. If you recognise these symptoms, a blood test can help determine your iron status.
When low iron levels are confirmed and an infusion is clinically appropriate, intravenous iron can replenish iron stores efficiently without relying on the digestive system.
An infusion delivers iron directly into the bloodstream, making it a convenient option for those who struggle to tolerate oral supplements, have difficulty absorbing iron, or need to replenish their iron stores efficiently.

The Iron Infusion Process
We use Monofer® Ferric Derisomaltose and Venofer® (iron sucrose) for intravenous iron treatment.
Following a review of your blood results and medical history, our team will determine the appropriate dose based on your individual iron requirements.
Monofer is available in 500mg (£450) and 1000mg (£650)
Venofer is available in 100 mg (£125) or 200 mg (£200) doses.
The recommended dose and number of treatments are tailored to your needs.
STEP 1
Before Your Iron Infusion
Before we can proceed with an iron infusion, we must review recent blood test results to ensure treatment is safe and appropriate.
Required blood tests:
-
Ferritin
-
Full Blood Count (FBC)
-
Kidney Function
-
Liver Function
Without all required biomarkers, we’re unable to proceed with an infusion and you’ll need to book a consultation.
In some cases we may need additional biomarkers, this would be dependant on your medical history.
STEP 2
Sending Your Results/ Consultation
If you don’t have recent blood test results, you’ll need to book an iron consultation, where we can assess your needs and arrange the required blood tests. The consultation is £69 and can be booked online.
If you are sending your own blood test results:
-
Results must be in English
-
Your full name and date of birth must match your photo ID
-
Results must be clear, legible, and within 12 weeks.
Results that don’t meet these requirements cannot be accepted.
Please email results to info@thedripco.uk.
STEP 3
Review & Prescription
Please allow 24–48 hours for our clinical team to review your blood results and medical history, assess your suitability for treatment and, where appropriate, issue your prescription.
Please ensure your consultation form is completed in full, as this information is required as part of your clinical assessment.
Once your review is complete, we’ll contact you with the next steps.
STEP 4
Your Treatment
Your journey includes a detailed consultation, review of your blood results, and a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
The iron infusion is administered in the clinic and carried out under close monitoring.
After the infusion, you’ll remain with us for a short observation period to ensure you feel well before leaving.
Monofer
Ferric Derisomaltose
Monofer® (ferric derisomaltose) helps replenish depleted iron stores, supporting haemoglobin production and the normal transport of oxygen throughout the body. It is administered intravenously, with the prescribed dose typically being 500 mg or 1,000 mg, depending on your individual iron requirements and clinical assessment.
Monofer is generally well tolerated. Some patients may experience nausea, headache, dizziness, temporary taste changes, changes in blood pressure, skin rash or discomfort at the infusion site. Rarely, serious allergic or hypersensitivity reactions can occur. You will therefore be monitored during and after your infusion to help ensure your safety.
